My favorite gang of girls to work with is the Women's Collective for
KO.OP Radio. There are about 15 of us
who are really hardcore into producing
alternative radio for Austin women. The Women's Collective spends a lotta
time at WATER House (WATER is Women's Access to Electronic Resources),
where we help each other learn the technical aspects of audio production
and unify our strategies and resources for kickin' corporate and
patriarchal ass!
Tune in every Saturday afternoon between 2-4 pm to hear Women's Collective Programs on KO.OP (91.7 FM) Radio. Our shows are:
Notes from a Broad is a women's news, information, and culture magazine. Part of our mission on Notes from a Broad is to introduce Austin to the range of concerns, talents, and thoughts that women are capable of offering. On the air we're casual, sometimes sassy, but always informative. The scope of our interests is rarely reflected accurately by mainstream media, so we hope to offer a unique little taste of the cross-section of our gender. The audience, consists of women (duh!) young and old--active, progressive and curious women. We have a feeling that there's a few guys (goddess bless 'em!) eavesdropping in to learn something about what it's like to be on _this_ side of the bra hook. Well, actually, not all of us wear bras....
Any woman can join the Women's Collective; we're easy! We'll teach you how to use your voice for maximum impact; how to use the microphone; how to do interviews; how to record out 'in the field' using portable audio recording equipment; and more! Drop me an email message and I'll get back with you.
